Bauxite Ore Supplier
Bauxite Ore Overview
Bauxite ore is the world’s primary source of aluminum and one of the most widely mined industrial minerals on earth. It is a naturally occurring rock formed through the weathering of aluminum-rich parent materials in tropical and subtropical environments, and its principal aluminum-bearing minerals are gibbsite (Al(OH)₃), boehmite (γ-AlO(OH)), and diaspore (α-AlO(OH)), typically accompanied by iron oxides, silica, and titanium dioxide.
Bauxite is extracted predominantly through open-pit strip mining, then crushed, washed, and either shipped as raw ore or processed into alumina (Al₂O₃) via the Bayer process in which the ore is ground with caustic soda to dissolve alumina, which is then precipitated and calcined into aluminum oxide for smelting into primary aluminum metal.
Approximately 85% of all bauxite mined globally is used as alumina refinery feedstock, making it an indispensable raw material at the base of the aluminum supply chain.
Applications of Bauxite Ore
Bauxite ore serves as the foundational raw material for aluminum production and supports a range of additional industrial applications that depend on its high alumina content and thermal stability.
Alumina Refinery Feedstock
The dominant application, accounting for approximately 85% of global bauxite consumption. Raw bauxite is processed through the Bayer process at alumina refineries to produce aluminum oxide, which is then smelted into primary aluminum metal for use in aerospace, automotive, packaging, construction, and electrical sectors.
Refractory Products
Calcined high-alumina bauxite is used in the manufacture of refractory bricks, castables, and kiln linings for steel furnaces, cement kilns, and glass-melting equipment. The high melting point and thermal shock resistance of calcined bauxite make it preferred over many alternatives in high-temperature industrial environments.
Abrasives Manufacturing
Fused and calcined bauxite is processed into aluminum oxide abrasives used in grinding wheels, sandpapers, abrasive blasting media, and anti-slip surface coatings for industrial flooring and road surfacing.
Cement Industry
High-alumina bauxite is used as a raw material in the production of aluminate cement, which offers superior resistance to chemical attack and high temperatures compared to ordinary Portland cement. It is used in boiler linings, drainage structures, and industrial flooring applications.
Chemicals Production
Sodium aluminate and other aluminum-based chemicals derived from bauxite are used in water treatment, paper manufacturing, and textile processing industries.
Specialty Glass and Ceramics
Alumina derived from bauxite raises the melting point and thermal shock resistance of glass compositions, used in cooktops, laboratory glassware, and specialty industrial ceramics.

Bauxite Ore Suppliers FAQ
Bauxite ore is the primary raw material for aluminum production, accounting for approximately 85% of global bauxite consumption. After processing through the Bayer refining process, it yields alumina, which is then smelted into primary aluminum metal. Additional uses include refractory bricks and kiln linings, abrasives manufacturing, aluminate cement production, specialty glass and ceramics, and aluminum-based chemicals for water treatment and paper manufacturing.
We supply metallurgical-grade bauxite (Al₂O₃ 45–60%, SiO₂ ≤12%) for alumina refinery feedstock, high-alumina refractory-grade bauxite for kiln linings and castables, and cement-grade bauxite for aluminate cement production. All grades are confirmed by independent assay report detailing Al₂O₃, SiO₂, Fe₂O₃, TiO₂, and moisture content per lot.
Bauxite ore is supplied in one-tonne FIBC big-bags for containerized shipments or as loose bulk for large-volume orders. Containerized loads are packed into 20-foot ISO containers at 20–25 MT per container with moisture-resistant liners where required. All shipments include weight certificates and moisture sampling documentation completed at the loading port.
Yes. Ikutha Forge Company Limited exports bauxite ore to buyers across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe under FOB, CIF, and CFR shipping terms. Complete export documentation is provided with every shipment, including the assay report, SGS inspection certificate, certificate of origin, packing list, and bill of lading.
