Lead Ingot Supplier
Lead Ingot Overview
Lead ingot is a refined metal product cast from high-purity lead and used as a primary industrial raw material across battery manufacturing, radiation shielding, construction, cable production, and alloy processing.
It is one of the most recycled metals in the world, produced through two principal routes: primary production, in which lead ore (galena) is roasted, smelted, and electrolytically refined to achieve commercial purity grades; and secondary production, in which scrap lead (predominantly from spent batteries) is recovered, re-refined, and recast into standardized ingots.
Both production routes yield material suitable for industrial use when properly refined and graded. Lead’s high density, malleability, corrosion resistance, and low melting point make it uniquely suited to a range of demanding applications where no cost-effective substitute currently exists at scale.
Applications of Lead Ingot
Lead ingot is consumed across a wider range of industries than most non-ferrous metals, driven by its density, corrosion resistance, and radiation-attenuating properties. Key application sectors include:
Lead-Acid Battery Manufacturing
This is by far the dominant end use, accounting for over 80% of global lead demand. Lead ingots are the primary feedstock for lead-acid batteries used in automotive starter systems, industrial forklifts, telecom backup power, and off-grid energy storage.
Radiation Shielding
Lead’s exceptionally high density makes it the material of choice for shielding in nuclear power facilities, medical imaging equipment, X-ray rooms, and industrial radiography. ASTM B29 refined pure lead is the standard specification for these applications.
Cable Sheathing
Lead is used to sheath telecommunications and high-voltage power cables in underground and submarine installations, providing moisture and corrosion resistance over long service lives.
Construction and Architecture
Lead flashing, roofing, and waterproofing systems are used in heritage and commercial construction for their durability and workability. Lead sheet derived from ingot is a long-established building material.
Alloy and Solder Production
Lead is alloyed with antimony, tin, and other metals to produce bearing alloys (Babbitt), solders, and type metal for industrial manufacturing.
Ammunition Manufacturing
Lead ingots are the primary feedstock for projectile and shot production across commercial and industrial applications.

Lead Ingot Suppliers FAQ
Lead ingot is used primarily in lead-acid battery manufacturing, which accounts for over 80% of global demand. Additional applications include radiation shielding, cable sheathing, construction materials, ammunition production, alloy and solder manufacturing, and industrial ballast systems.
We supply lead ingots from Pb99.970 (≥99.97%) through to Pb99.994 (≥99.994%) in line with GB/T 469-2013, as well as ASTM B29-19 refined pure and low bismuth/low silver grades. The appropriate grade depends on your end application — battery manufacturing typically requires Pb99.990 or above, while radiation shielding and nuclear applications demand ASTM refined pure specification.
Lead ingots are bundled on sea-worthy wooden pallets with steel strapping and shrink-wrapped for moisture protection. They are containerized in 20-foot or 40-foot ISO containers. Each shipment includes a Certificate of Analysis, Safety Data Sheet, and full export documentation. UN 3077 transport compliance documentation is provided as standard.
Yes. Ikutha Forge Company Limited exports lead ingots to industrial buyers across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East under FOB, CIF, and CFR shipping terms. Our team manages all export and customs documentation including certificate of origin, third-party inspection reports, and hazardous materials compliance paperwork.
Our standard minimum order quantity is 25 metric tons per shipment. Larger monthly volumes and long-term supply contracts are available, with volume-based pricing for committed quantities. Please provide your target volume and destination port when submitting an inquiry.
