Aluminium UBC Scrap Supplier

Aluminium UBC Scrap Overview

Aluminium UBC scrap derived from used beverage cans is among the highest-value grades of secondary aluminium available in global scrap markets. Used beverage cans are manufactured from a narrow range of aluminium alloys (predominantly the 3xxx series), making UBC scrap one of the most compositionally consistent secondary feedstocks available to recyclers and secondary smelters.

The recycling process begins with collection and sorting of used cans, followed by shredding, hot-water washing to remove labels and organic residues, and magnetic and eddy-current separation to eliminate ferrous and non-ferrous contaminants. The cleaned aluminium fragments are then hydraulically compressed into dense bales ready for export.

The result is a material that is 99%+ aluminium by content, free from steel, paint, plastics, and glass contamination, and suitable for direct charging into secondary smelting furnaces. Recycled aluminium from UBC scrap requires only approximately 5% of the energy needed for primary smelting making it one of the most economically and environmentally attractive secondary metal feedstocks in global commodity markets.

Aluminium UBC Scrap Suppliers FAQ

What is aluminium UBC scrap and what does UBC mean?

UBC stands for Used Beverage Can. Aluminium UBC scrap is recycled material derived from collected used aluminium beverage cans that have been shredded, washed, separated from contaminants, and hydraulically compressed into dense bales for industrial use. It is classified under ISRI Taldon/Taldork grade and represents one of the most consistent and high-purity grades of secondary aluminium available in global scrap markets, with aluminium content typically exceeding 94%–99%.

What purity and alloy composition does aluminium UBC scrap have?

Aluminium UBC scrap carries aluminium content of 94%–99%+, with the balance comprising alloying elements from the original beverage can composition: Magnesium (Mg) 0.8%–1.3%, Manganese (Mn) 0.8%–1.2%, Silicon (Si) ≤0.25%, Iron (Fe) ≤0.40%, and Copper (Cu) ≤0.15%. Material is free from steel, plastics, glass, and organic contamination, confirmed by magnetic testing, eddy-current separation, and independent Certificate of Analysis.

How is aluminium UBC scrap packaged for export?

UBC scrap is hydraulically compressed into dense rectangular bales of approximately 20–30 kg each, strapped and either palletised or direct-loaded into 20-foot ISO containers. A standard 20-foot container holds approximately 18–22 MT of baled UBC scrap depending on bale density. Export-grade moisture-resistant wrapping is applied where required. Weight and inspection certificates are issued at the loading point for every shipment.

Do you export aluminium UBC scrap internationally?

Yes. Ikutha Forge Company Limited exports aluminium UBC scrap to buyers across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East under FOB, CIF, and CFR shipping terms. Every shipment includes the Certificate of Analysis or Material Test Report, SGS or Bureau Veritas inspection certificate, certificate of origin, packing list, commercial invoice, and bill of lading.
